Brisbane Water Secondary College Year 11 students will be attending the award winning one day RYDA Road Safety Education Program on 22 March, 2013. RYDA is designed for 16-18 year olds as they begin to drive or ride in cars driven by their peers. The program focuses on attitude and awareness with the aim of equipping young adults to stay safe on our roads. This program is not just for drivers, but young people as passengers too.
The RYDA Program has given students an extensive and intense introduction into youth road trauma: its prevalence; understanding of the long term affects; and strategies to be better prepared to make better decision to keep them safe.
We have been very fortunate this year to be working closely with The Rotary Clubs of Umina and Woy Woy as they sponsor the RYDA program and they will be assisting us with reducing the cost of travel to the venue. One lucky student will win an iPad mini and another free driving lesson for simply participating on the day.
