Saturday 4th August, marked a milestone in local education history. Woy Woy High School , now Brisbane Water Secondary College, Woy Woy Campus has just celebrated its 50th year. Hundreds of people, some from as far as Longreach in Queensland, and Victoria attended the open day.
The sunny winter weather was condusive to a day of catching up. Campus tours were held throughout the day by the newly appointed campus principal MR David Alomes. All were impressed by the updated facilities and grounds. Positive comments were made regarding the expertise and casual ease of David himself.
Visitors included ex-teachers,retired canteen supervisors ,students from the past 5 decades and 3 ex-principals. the eldest was a sprightly Mr Thorncraft, 83 years young!
Some of the highlights of the day were the memorabillia display in the library, sausage sizzle, raffle and souvenir stand manned by some current P&C members. A book and cake stall held by our current SRC( Student Representative Council). Refreshments available included morning tea made and served by our Hospitality students supported by their head teacher Ms.Marker.
The newly refurbished canteen was open, on display and serviced as usual by a band of smiling volunteers, canteen supervisors and P&C members.
Special thanks goes to the school uniform supplier "We're sportswear'. The local business supplied a great display of red ,white and blue baloons that festooned the campus grounds and later "The Star Room' at the 'Everglades Country Club',where the reunion dinner was attended by over 60 guests.
