Senior Campus – Code of Conduct
The Senior Campus of the Brisbane Water Secondary College aims to provide students with a high quality education in an adult learning environment. For this to occur, it is essential that all students focus on learning and strive for continuous improvement so that all can achieve their best possible results.
It is also essential that all students accept responsibility for ensuring that their behaviour never stops others from achieving the high quality outcomes they have set as their goal.
Students should always ask: “Is this helping me to achieve best results?
Is it helping others achieve theirs?”
On this campus, students are expected to:
- Wear full College uniform to the Campus and on other activities with pride
- Be polite to others and respect their right to feel safe and comfortable at the Campus
- Use self-discipline and accept responsibility for your behaviour at all times.
- Focus on learning in the classroom – respect the right of other students to learn and the teacher’s right to teach
- Keep mobile phones turned off during lessons, assemblies, roll calls etc
- Attend all timetabled classes and be on time
- Complete and submit work on time and strive to achieve your personal best
- Use spare periods for study in the library, sign the book in library at start of period, indicate your whereabouts if going elsewhere (e.g. to work on major works with a teacher, go to cafeteria)
- Ask permission before leaving Campus grounds during the day and sign out giving reason and destination
- Respect property belonging to the Campus and other people
- Keep the grounds and rooms clean and free of litter
- Keep the Campus drug free – this includes cigarettes, alcohol and all illegal drugs
- Responsible and Committed

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.
Attendance and absences
Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent.
Young people below the age of 17 who have completed Year 10 must be:
in school, or registered for home schooling
in approved education or training, such as a traineeship, apprenticeship or TAFE
in full-time paid employment (average 25 hours a week)
in a combination of work, education and/or training (average of 25 hours a week combined).
Students 17 years and over who are enrolled in school must attend school regularly to meet HSC course requirements.
As a parent or carer, you are responsible for ensuring your child attends school every day when they are of compulsory school age. You must explain all absences to the school within 7 days.
